Yesterday, 8th November, 2024, the Speaker of the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly, ably represented by the Majority Leader, Hon. Suleiman AbdulRazak and other members of the house, attended the “Strategic Engagement with Kogi State House of Assembly Members” organized by the National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, in partnership with the Disability Rights Trust Fund. House members present at the event included Hon. Jibril Abu, Hon. Seyi Bello, Hon. Idowu Ibikunle, the House Minority Leader amongst others.
The session focused on critical issues related to the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the state. During the event, the association proposed two bills to the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly, recognizing the House as a strong ally and advocate for the PWD community.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Hon. AbdulRazak reaffirmed the House’s unalloyed support for PWDs and assured them that the proposed bills would receive special consideration from the House. “Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches and to that effect, the house is ready to work with the PWD community to make life better and easier for everyone of them”, he said.
In recognition and appreciation of their commitment to inclusivity, the association presented an award of excellence to the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly, as “The Most Inclusive Assembly.” Additionally, the Majority Leader, Hon. Suleiman AbdulRazak was honored with the award of “The Most Passionate Personality”.
